The main focus of British Research is to pursue new knowledge through research and develop these ideas into new innovative products and services.
Our existing portfolio of research projects are in the areas of environment, communications, health and energy sectors.
Environment
A few years back when a lot of industries were focused on carbon emissions, carbon audits and carbon credits, an industry formed around using paper based calculations using client’s bills. That is still in use today. As engineers, we were quite sceptical about the accuracy of these calculations and decided to create a System based on actual measurement. Research was undertaken for the Indian government and we developed an innovative range of Green House Gas Analysers (monitoring devices) to help police, monitor and validate the estimation of the output of CO2 and other atmospheric pollutants that may be emitted in the course of running a business.
We are continuing our research to ensure that we provide the latest developments within this field.
Communications
There are many methods of communication including low powered Bluetooth, ZigBee and Low Power WiFi, Power Line carrier. We keep ourselves update with the latest communications technologies and advise our clients, developed new innovative products and support integration programs for existing product ranges. This is being done at a research and development level looking at the future but also at a production level with current clients.
Health
With life expectancy rising throughout many countries in the world and the emergence of ageing populations within many developed nations, the pressure on healthcare systems is increasing rapidly.
The research that we have carried/carry out aims at developing products/technologies which will relieve the pressure on traditional healthcare systems by shifting resources towards prevention and wellness and delivering it where people live.
Smart Metering
Smart Metering has been the main development within the metering industry during the last 10 years. This will inevitably lead on to a great need for communication within this area with the introduction of smart grids. We support and advise a number of clients developing and manufacturing smart meters. We also assist directly or through our clients a number of utilities and governments around the world advising them on the future developments of smart metering.

We have a dedicated research and development team that carry out research in communications, environmental, smart metering and medical technologies. Our team, who are experts in these fields, are constantly striving to find innovative solutions.
Currently, our team is undertaking an exciting programme of Research & Development on a low cost, bi-direction smart communication system.
Our Research & Development team works closely with Glamorgan University and together we have been awarded the industrial CASE award by the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) to carry out research with regards to carbon measurement. The projects title and objective is carbon usage profiling through energy measurement, modelling and metering.
